Quinlan College Consulting brings over 15 years experience assisting families navigate through the process of making well informed decisions about their college futures. Our goal is to empower students and parents with knowledge and tools to find a learning environment in which they will thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our customized and comprehensive approach will not just culminate in the selection of an institution but will prepare students to meet the challenges they will encounter in higher education today.
About Mickey Quinlan
Hello! My name is Mickey Quinlan and I bring over 15 years of experience in higher education to northwest Louisiana guiding local high school students through the college search and selection process.
I have a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Psychology and actually served as a college instructor for 3 years before transitioning into the college admission world. I started as an Admission Counselor at Millsaps College in Jackson, MS and eventually chased my wife to Shreveport where I became Director of Admission at Centenary College. During my time in higher education, I loved assisting high school students and parents through the college application process. After a career of close to 15 years in higher education I transitioned out of the field to run my wife’s small family business. During this transition time, I recognized two things: 1) That I truly had a passion for assisting students in navigating through the college search and selection process and 2) There was a great need for college guidance in northwest Louisiana. I was excited for the opportunity to use the knowledge and skills I had developed over the previous decade to create a business that could truly provide a quality service for students and families without being handcuffed with a specific college affiliation.
In 2012, I launched my independent college consulting company and since have been working with local high school students to help them find the right fit for their college future. As of 2020, I have assisted over 75 Northwest Louisiana families apply and get accepted to over 150 institutions across America.

Meet with student and parent(s) regularly from time of engagement through end of their senior year via personal visits, zoom/skype, telephone, and email
Up to 20 recommendations of colleges along with their institutional profiles
Assist in researching college options and preparing a customized college application list
Assist in arranging/coordinating college visits, when applicable
Identify dates for standardized test and recommend appropriate test preparation resources
Review of all college applications materials
Step by step guidance through the financial aid process
